Course Structure

Induction

Following a  welcome induction in the summer, the course beings with a 2 week Intensive Training & Practice block where you engage with seminars, observe expert teachers apply theory live in the classroom and then build your own skills in key focus areas outside of the classroom environment.

Core school placement

Your core school placement will begin after you have completed your two-week induction. We organise your core school placement for you, which will be in one of our partner schools

Taught sessions

You will take part in weekly training in the form of seminars, events or self-directed study. This will be complemented by subject focused conferences throughout the year and one weeks intensive training in January and April.

Broader School Experience

During the spring term, you will undertake 6 weeks of contrasting placements. For primary trainees, this means a minimum of 4 weeks in a contrasting primary school and key stage to your main placement. You will also need to experience a minimum of 1 day in a secondary school and 1 in a non-mainstream setting. We aim to meet trainees needs when planning the balance of your placements across the whole 6 weeks.

What will your course look like?
