Attendance

Attendance

School attendance opens the doors to so much – but the barriers that prevent school attendance can also be so significant.

Our attendance core offer includes:

  • training for attendance officers,
  • training, offered by our MIS trainers, about effective use of Arbor,
  • half-termly network meetings for attendance team members,
  • weekly data analysis (whole school, PA, severe absence, year groups, demographics, missing marks, N codes),
  • support for governors,
  • template letters,
  • meeting support,
  • CPD for all staff (now mandatory) about attendance,
  • meetings to discuss all severely absent children,
  • attendance process review.
Training for attendance officers

New attendance officers receive support from the trust as well as their own staff team.  This is arranged on a school-by-school basis.  Our training for new staff includes:

  • understanding the legislation,
  • knowing how to use Arbor to record attendances and absences,
  • understanding the meaning of register codes,
  • when to contact parents and carers,
  • how to use reports in Arbor to support the role,
  • recording of action taken,
  • when an attendance concern becomes a safeguarding concern,
  • how to monitor attendance,
  • what to share with all staff,
  • producing attendance data reports and more.
MIS training

Three Spires Trust academies can access training programmes offered by our MIS support provider.  Further, staff can contact our MIS support provider directly fo bespoke training and support.

Attendance network meetings

Half-termly meetings to explore things to celebrate, common anomalies, explore challenges, compulsory school age attendance vs whole age attendance and so much more.

Our network meetings are collaborative – they are always agenda-ed and recorded, but they are also always fluid.  Attendance network meetings are held virtually – this enables the teams to come together and share good practice and refine systems and processes in their own settings.

Network meetings are a really important part of our attendance support programme.
